I may have failed my goal to make 52 sketches in 52 days...but that doesn't mean they will never see the light of the internet. It just means I faced a few setbacks and it is taking a while to get back on track. I'm not quite ready to continue my 52 sketches..I have somehow misplaced my notebook. However, I am on my way to feeling unashamed in regards to my hiatus.
It has been quite some time since my last post! To catch you up, here are a few exciting things that have happened since September.
1) My cat and my dog have made friendship! That's right! Azzy and Phoenix are playing and can be in the same room without a problem. Sometimes, I even catch them cuddling!
2) I have now visited Atlanta a total of three times. Once when I visited the Georgia Aquarium (TIP: Go for free on your birthday! Just show your ID at admissions). The second time I visited Zoo Atlanta (TIP: if you have a library card for a library in or surrounding Atlanta, they will most likely have a Zoo Pass. If you are lucky enough to get a hold of one, you and three others can obtain free admission to Zoo Atlanta! Limit: one use per card per year) And the third time, was when I heard about a pub crawl in Little Five Points with ALPACAS. So, obviously I had to go and find an alpaca in the city.
3) I FINALLY BOUGHT A DESK! I had been wanting a work station of my own for over a year now and was super jealous that Cody almost immediately found a desk when we moved in. Like, so jealous. I was literally green for a couple months. Any photos you saw of me were highly edited to remove any green undertones. I became sick of being green, and went searching for a desk. I didn't intend to get one right away..but when you find a stable desk at a thrift store, you take it! Unfortunately, I don't have a chair to accompany my desk at the moment...but I do have a desk. I could honestly jump for joy!
4) I decided to make my dear Azzy-Cat a Cat Tree!! I am very excited to work on this project. I've already cut most of the pieces out, only one or two more to go, then I'm ready to sand, paint and assemble. Hopefully Azzy will actually use this thing. I'm giving it a lot of features that she will like (fingers crossed!!). It has a cat tent, a cat hammock, multiple hanging pom poms, a spring-loaded catnip filled felt cat toy/pom pom (TBD), an observation deck, a scratching post, and a ramp (not shown). Basically, it's kitty paradise.
Is that not the coolest looking cat tree?! The paint colors are going to be either forest or olive green and sandy white. The goal is, if the room is filled with plants the cat tree should fit the plantlike aesthetic and not stick out like a sore thumb.
Anyhow. A lot has been going on the last few months, and I do intend to get back to my 52 Day sketching challenge ASAP. I have located some photos from before I misplaced my sketchbook and will be sharing over the next stretch of time. With all luck by the time I'm done posting the old photos I will have relocated my sketchbook and will have current content.
Here's to starting again!
